Criminals may lurk around beach access points

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach Police want the public to take precautions when frequenting the beach this summer.

With car burglaries happening the most at beach access parking lots, they say criminals are looking for opportunities. Police say make sure you lock your doors and don't leave valuables left on car seats.

Man wanted for allegedly stealing bow from archery store in Longs

LONGS, SC (WMBF) – Officials with the Horry
County Police Department are looking for a man they say stole a compound bow from
an archery store in Longs.

According to the Horry County Police Department

, a man stole a left-handed compound bow from 3G
Archery on Highway 9 in Longs. The black bow has deer skull accents on it.

NMB free summer concerts begin May 17

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Thanks to the North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department, you can catch a number of free concerts on the North Strand this summer.

The free summer concert series begins on May 17 with the Fat Jack Band performing in McLean Park at 7 p.m., the same start time for each concert through September.

Though all the artists have not been chosen yet, the locations have been decided - Main Street (202 Main Street), the Horseshoe on Main Street (oceanfront street end) and McLean Park (93 Oak Drive).

Police name suspect in golf cart thefts

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Police have named a suspect in a number of golf cart thefts and hope the public can help locate him.

According to a Facebook past on Horry County Police Department "Official Page", Jeffrey Lewis Floyd is wanted for golf cart thefts in Little River and Garden City.

If you know where he is, please call the Horry County Police Tip Line at 915-TIPS.

District offers social media guidelines for students

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - There's a big misconception when it comes to tweeting and posting on sites like Facebook.

Horry County School District spokeswoman, Teal Britton, says many students don't realize inappropriate comments and pictures they post on social media, could call for disciplinary action, even it was posted outside of school hours and off of school property.

Mark Lazarus takes office as Horry Co. Council Chair

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Newly elected Horry County Council Chairman Mark Lazarus will be sworn into office on Tuesday, May 7.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. in Horry County Council Chambers, located on the second floor of the Horry County Government and Justice Center in Conway.

The event is open to the public with a reception to follow.
